Amitabh Bachchan praises Kohli, team India for victory

Legendary Bollywood Actor Amitabh Bachchan praised Indian ace batsman Virat Kohli for his marvellous innings against India. Bachchan said that Kohli has played an inning of his life.

“ Virat Kohli, you have played the innings of your life .. back against the wall, pressure of loss and elimination, and you win !! (sic),” he posted on Twitter.

The right handed Indian batsman knocked an unbeaten 133 as India chased down a mammoth 321-run target in under 37 overs against Sri Lanka in Hobart on Tuesday to stay alive in the one-day international Tri-series.

The mercurial looking batsman displayed some sublime strokeplay and was particularly Sri Lanka’s bowling sensation Lasith Malinga (one for 96), whom he hit for 24 runs in an over, including a six and four boundaries in consecutive deliveries.

Bachchan also praised team India for showcasing an all-round effort.

“Team India shuts out SL and the critics in one fell blow !! Resurgent India - brave, aggressive and confident !! No praise enough !! (sic),” he added.

Indian ace batsmen Sehwag and Tendulkar gave the much needed solid start. Gautam Gambhir and Suesh Raina also made necessary contributions. India now require hosts Australia to beat Sri Lanka in the last group match in Melbourne on Friday to stay ahead of Sri Lanka on points.

Pakistan announces 15 players squad for the Twenty 20 World Cup

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced 15 players squad for the Twenty 20 World Cup on Friday (March 12).

The squad included Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal and Umar Akmal-the three players who are serving a six-month probation for disciplinary problems.

However, the board did not announce a captain and vice-captain tournament.

The players in the squad include Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal, Salman Butt, Saeed Ajmal, Misbah-ul-Haq, Umar Akmal, Umer Gul, Khalid latif, Fawad Alam, Mohammad Hafiz, Hamad Azam, Mohammad Aamir, Mohammad Asif and Yasir Arafat while the reserve players include Shahzeb Hassan, Mohammad Samee, Raza Hassan, Naveed Yaseen and Sarfaraz Ahmed.

India beat Sri Lanka by eight wickets

India booked its birth in the finals of tri-nation cricket tournament on Sunday (January 10) after crushing Sri Lanka by eight wickets.

India chased the target of 214 runs in 32.4 overs.

Indian batsmen Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli made 71 run each.

India’s left hand seamer Zaheer Khan and legspinner Amit Mishra took three wickets.

Zaheer Khan was adjudged the man of the match award.

India will take on to Sri Lanka in the finals.

Indian batsman Virender Sehwag, replies critics with an unbeaten triple century (309 runs, 292 balls, 42X4, 5X6) as India scored 468-1 (106) at the end of day three of the first cricket Test here on Friday. Virendra Sehwag scored at the strike rate of 105.82. The flambuoyant batsmen from Delhi has breaked many records. He scored the third-quickest double-century in the Test history and also the highest score by an Indian against South Africa. The cricketer joined the elite club of Don Bradman and Brian Lara by scoring second triple century. The extravagant opener has also broke teammate VVS Laxman's record of 281, the highest individual score in Tests by an Indian in India, which he established against Australia at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in 2001.
