The Sultan of Najafgarh, moving successfully to conquer Chennai

Indian batsman Virender Sehwag, replies critics with an unbeaten triple century (309 runs, 292 balls, 42X4, 5X6) as India scored 468-1 (106) at the end of day three of the first cricket Test here on Friday. Virendra Sehwag scored at the strike rate of 105.82. The flambuoyant batsmen from Delhi has breaked many records. He scored the third-quickest double-century in the Test history and also the highest score by an Indian against South Africa. The cricketer joined the elite club of Don Bradman and Brian Lara by scoring second triple century. The extravagant opener has also broke teammate VVS Laxman's record of 281, the highest individual score in Tests by an Indian in India, which he established against Australia at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in 2001.

Court admits a complaint against Sonia Gandhi

A Muzaffarpur court has charged Congress president Sonia Gandhi with outraging religious feelings of the Hindus in her portrayal as Goddess Durga in a poster at the party's Muradabad office in Uttar Pradesh. UPA chairperson is charged under three Sections of IPC: Sections 295 (injuring or defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class), 295 (a) (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefes) and 120(b) (criminal conspiracy). District Judge H K Srivastava admitted the complaint filed by an advocate Sudhir Ojha against Sonia, Uttar Pradesh and Muradabad district party presidents.

Dalmiya arrested: release on bail

Former BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya was arrested on the charges of fraud, cheating and breach of trust. The former president of BCCI is accused of misuse and embezzlement of Rs 2.9 crore -- from funds meant for the 1996 World Cup. However, he was released on bail soon after his arrest.

Google supported 'white space' wi-fi

Search engine giant google inc. is pressing the US government to allow the unlicensed frequencies of TV "white space" to be used for wi-fi. For this purpose, the company has written an open letter to regulators saying the US spectrum was a "once in a lifetime opportunity".

Cartoon ambassador....doesn't it sounds like a funny joke. But friends, this is not at all a joke, Japan has recently created an unusual government post for promoting animation. So, after brand ambassadors, goodwill ambassadors, tourism ambassadors, etc., now the trend of cartoon ambassadors has started by Japan. The govt. has named a perfect figure to the position: a popular cartoon robot cat named Doraemon. Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura appointed the cat an ''anime ambassador,'' handing a human-sized Doraemon doll an official certificate at an inauguration ceremony, along with dozens of ''dorayaki'' red bean pancakes — his favorite dessert — piled on a huge plate.

Antique Buddha statue fetches a whopping $14.3 million

A recetly discovered wooden sculpture of Gautam Buddha has fetched $14.3 million, a price the auctioneer calls a world record for any Japanese work of art. Christie's said the seated figure of Dainichi Nyorai, or the supreme Buddha, is attributed to 13th-century sculptor Unkei, considered one of the greatest carvers of the early Kamakura period (1190s). Salman Khan to host a TV game show

After Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, it is the time for the bollywood hunk Salman to host a TV reality show which is supposed to be aired on the Sony TV. It is believed that Salman will be paid a whopping amount of Rs.90 crores for this venture. The show will be the competitor of Star Plus‘ show Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain?, which will be hosted by Shah Rukh Khan.

Encounter specialist murdered in Gurgaon

Rajbir Singh, a controversial Delhi Police 'encounter' specialist with over 50 kills to his credit, was shot dead on Monday night in neighbouring Gurgaon allegedly by a property dealer over a dispute on "investments" he had made with the realtor.

Bhansali wants to direct more operas

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is just back in Mumbai after four exhilarating performances of the opera "Padmavati" in Paris, says the experience of directing it was stimulating. "The only opera I had seen before this was at the Opera House in Mumbai. I had never gone to an opera, never knew there was an operatic influence within me. Now I'm hungry for more," Bhansali told IANS.

Advani targets Nehru for his weak stance on Tibet

Gujarat govt. opposes the granting of bail to the Gujarat police officer N K Amin and Rajasthan cadre IPS officer Dinesh M N who are facing the trail in the fake encounter killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and the subsequent killing of his wife Kausar Bi. Mr. D .H. Trivedi, Inspector, Gujarat police, who filed an affidavit on behalf of the state Government, has informed the Supreme Court that the investigation into the twin murder is still pending and is at a crucial stage.

R.K. Sharma, 3 others gets life term in Shivani Bhatnagar murder case

New Delhi: March 24, 2008 - Senior IPS officer R.K. Sharma gets the life term in the murder of Indian Express reporter, Shivani Bhatnagar. Sharma is the IPS officer in the country to be convicted of murder. Nine years after the murder of the journalist, a a Delhi court found former Haryana Police official, R.K. Sharma and three others guilty of murder, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence. However, the court has rejected the prosecution's demand of death sentence by saying that he does not have a criminal past and the court said that it was not the rarest of the rare case. A fine of Rs 20,000 was also slapped on R.K. Sharma, while the other three have been fined Rs 10,000 each.

Om Shanti OM came out the big winner at Central European Bollywood Awards

OSO hoist the flag of success at The Fifth Annual Central European Bollywood Awards. This Farah Khan’s venture not only won awards for the Best Special Effects, Best Art Direction and Best Costumes, the film also took home the prize for Best Choreography for ‘Dhoom Tana’. OSO bags 3 of the 4 music awards: Best Music: Vishal-Shekhar, Best Song: ‘Dastaan-E-Om Shanti Om’, and Best Male Singer: Sonu Nigam for ‘Main Agar Kahoon’. Bill Gates wants more professional visas

Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates asked for more H-1B visas for skilled professionals. Gates told the U.S. House of Representatives' Science and Technology Committee that the 65,000 H-1B visas allotted for professional workers annually was inadequate, pointing out the 2007 quota was filled on the first day they became available.
