Former reality star Tess Taylor enters rehab

Tess Taylor, model and sister to Burglar Buncher Alexis Neiers -- has entered rehab for a heroin addiction, celebrity gossip portal TMZ revealed.

Friends closed to the model revealed that Taylor entered the Pasadena Recovery Center last Sunday -- after her felony drug possession arrest last month. The arrest was the primary catalyst behind her seeking treatment again.

Tess entered rehab for an opiate addiction one year ago -- but quit after 30 days.

Madonna killed by Lady Gaga fans on twitter

Pop diva Madonna has become the latest victim of the death hoax. Tweets saying "RIP Madonna" have been trending on Twitter for some time now and, predictably, a gossip website reported.

There is speculation the hoaxes started because her latest album - "Gimme All Your Luving" - did not come up to expectations. The titile song is expected to drop out of the Top 40 charts this week.

Meanwhile, a few of her fans believe this hoax was started by Lady Gaga's fans.

Apparently, ‘RIP Madonna’ is a trend that has been begun by fans of Lady Gaga, aka ‘little monsters’, in an act that is reminiscent of the revenge of the fallen.

Indian archers win gold in Asian Grand Prix archery

Kolkata, Feb. 17, (IANS)

India made a rich haul of one gold, three silver and a bronze medal in the individual section of the first Asian Grand Prix archery tournament at Bangkok Saturday.

Two teenage sensations, Chittibomma Jignas and National champion Rajat Chauhan, combined to give India 1-2 in the men’s compound event, according to information received here.

In an all-Indian final, the 18-year-old Services’ archer subdued Chauhan in the tie-breaker after the two tied at 144-144. Both hit the bull’s eye but Jignas’ arrow was found to be closer to the centre and gave him the second international gold after the silver he bagged at the third Asian Grand Prix at Dhaka in May last.

It was a remarkable show by Rajashtan boy Chauhan, who reached the final on his maiden international assignment, after having emerged national champion in all the three age groups: sub-junior, junior and senior in the same year.

In the semi-finals, Chauhan ousted Nguyen at 149-147 and Jignas eliminated compatriot Ritul Chatterjee 147-143.

It could have been a clean sweep by the Indians had Chatterjee not lost the bronze play-off to Nguyen Tien Cuong of Vietnam at 143-147.

India’s quest to win the most coveted events of all, the recurve division, did not come off. The country’s two final entries, Mangal Singh Champia and Chekrovolu Swuro, have not done well in individual events over the years. That they managed to win silver medals was indeed praiseworthy.

Champia came up against a vastly experienced Romain Girouille of France in the men’s recurve final where the two shared the five sets to tie the score at 5-5. In the one-arrow tie-breaker, the Frenchman shot a nine to the Indian’s eight in a touch and go contest.Earlier, Champia won against Spain’s Elias Cuesta by 7-3 set points in the semifinals.

Chekrovolu, who held an upper hand in the women’s recurve final against Ren Hayakawa of Japan, erred at the beginning of the third set. After taking the first two sets and a commanding 4-0 set points, the Indian needed just one more set to win the gold. Chekrovolu’s first arrow of the third set hit the seven point ring which unnerved the Indian.

Ren shot a 10 and a nine to take the set. Chekrovolu cracked in the fourth set shooting 8,9,9 to her opponent’s 10,8,10. The deciding set was a touch and go affair with the confident Japanese winning it in the end.

In the semis, Chekrovolu edged past Urangungalag Bishindee of Mongolia in the tie-break after both shared the five sets to tie the set score at 5-5. In the tie-breaker, the Indian’s bull’s eye was found to be closer to the centre than the Mongolian’s shot.

Both the Indian entries in the women’s compound bowed out in the semi final. Jhano Hansdah lost to ultimate gold medal winner Aung Ngeain of Myanmar 142-145 and Gagandeep Kaur fell to silver medallist Nurfatehah Mat Salleh Fatin of Malaysia 141-143.

In the battle for bronze, Jhano prevailed over her much younger opponent in the tie-breaker after a 139-139 tie. Jhano broke the stalemate by hitting the bull’s eye while Gagandeep collected only 8. The team finals will be gone through Sunday.

Terror suspect arrested near Capitol in FBI sting

WASHINGTON (AP)—A 29-year-old Moroccan man who believed he was working with al-Qaida was arrested Friday near the U.S. Capitol as he was planning to detonate what he thought was a suicide vest that undercover operatives gave him, officials said.

Amine El Khalifi of Alexandria, Va., was taken into custody with a gun that didn't work and inert explosives, according to a counterterrorism official. He arrived near the Capitol in a van with the two undercover operatives, and walked toward the building, according to court papers. He was arrested before he left the parking garage.

El Khalifi made a brief appearance on Friday afternoon in federal court in Alexandria, where a judge set a bail hearing for Wednesday. After his arrest, FBI agents raided a red brick rambler home in Arlington, Va. A police car blocked the entrance.

A criminal complaint charges him with knowingly and unlawfully attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction against property that is owned and used by the United States. The charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.

El Khalifi, who was under constant surveillance, expressed interest in killing at least 30 people and considered targeting a building in Alexandria and a restaurant, synagogue and a place where military personnel gather in Washington before he settled on the Capitol after canvassing that area a couple of times, the counterterrorism official said. During the investigation, El Khalifi went with undercover operatives in January to a quarry in West Virginia to practice detonating explosives, according to court documents.

He believed he was working with an al-Qaida operative on the plot, according to an affidavit.

El Khalifi came to the U.S. when he was 16 years old and is unemployed and not believed to be associated with al-Qaida. He had been under investigation for about a year and had overstayed his visitor visa, which expired in 1999, making him in the country illegally, according to court documents.

He told acquaintances in January 2011 that he agreed the "war on terrorism" was a "war on Muslims" and that they needed to be ready for war, the affidavit said.

Before settling on a plot to conduct a suicide bombing in the Capitol, El Khalifi considered blowing up an office building in Alexandria, where military officials worked and a restaurant in Washington to target military officials who gathered there. He even purchased supplies that included nails for the operation, according to the affidavit.

Later, when he settled on bombing the Capitol, El Khalifi asked his associates for more explosives that could be detonated by dialing a cellphone number. In January, he unknowingly told authorities he wanted to know if an explosion would be large enough to destroy an entire building.

El Khalifi met with an undercover law enforcement officer, who gave him an automatic weapon that didn't work. El Khalifi carried the firearm around the room, practiced pulling the trigger and looking at himself in the mirror.

A former landlord in Arlington said he believed El Khalifi was suspicious and called police a year and a half ago.

Frank Dynda said when he told El Khalifi to leave, the suspect said he had a right to stay and threatened to beat up Dynda. The former landlord said he thought El Khalifi was making bombs, but police told him to leave the man alone. Dynda had El Khalifi evicted in 2010.

El Khalifi had at least one man staying with him and claimed he was running a luggage business from the apartment, Dynda said, doubting that was true because he never saw any bags.

"I reported to police I think he's making bombs," Dynda said. "I was ready to get my shotgun and run him out of the building, but that would have been a lot of trouble."

Two people briefed on the matter told The Associated Press the FBI has had him under surveillance around the clock for several weeks. They spoke on a condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center imam Johari Abdul-Malik, who along with other Muslim leaders meets regularly with the FBI, said he was contacted by an agency official after El Khalifi's arrest and told the suspect was not someone he needed to worry about.

He said the official told him that Khalifi was "not a regular at your mosque or any mosque in the area."

He said he offered to supply the FBI with surveillance video of the mosque in Falls Church, Va., in case it helped with their investigation but was told that was it not necessary.

Police are close to arresting one of El Khalifi's associates on charges unrelated to the terror conspiracy, the counterterrorism official said. The associate was said to also be a Moroccan, living here illegally. Student jailed in Britain for "extensive" Facebook hack

(Reuters) A British student, who hacked into social networking website Facebook’s internal networking risking “disastrous” consequences for the portal, was sentenced the term of eight months on Friday (Feb 17) in London.

Glenn Mangham, a 26-year-old software development student, admitted infiltrating social networking portal Facebook from his parental home in northern England.

The case was described by prosecutors as the most serious case of its kind.

"This was the most extensive and flagrant incidence of social media hacking to be brought before British courts," said Alison Saunders, London's Chief Prosecutor told media in London on Feb 17. "Fortunately, this did not involve any personal user data being compromised", he added.

Facebook first became aware of a security breach in its internal network in April and called in the FBI. The U.S. agents established the source of the hacking was based in Britain and British police raided Mangham's home in June.

Mangham said he had previously helped search engine Yahoo Inc improve its security and wanted to do the same for Facebook. However, prosecutors rejected his explanation.

"He said he wanted a mini project and chose Facebook because of its high-profile internet presence," prosecutor Sandip Patel told London's Southwark Crown Court.

"The prosecution does not accept that the defendant's actions were anything other than malicious."

The court was told Facebook spent $200,000 in dealing with his actions, the Press Association reported.

Judge Alistair McCreath told Mangham his actions were not harmless and had "real consequences and very serious potential consequences" which could have been "utterly disastrous" for Facebook.

"You and others who are tempted to act as you did really must understand how serious this is," he said.

Group buying major Snapdeal looking for an e-commerce partner

NEW DELHI: India’s largest group buying portal snapdeal.com is in advanced talks to acquire an e-commerce company, some company officials revealed on the condition of anonymity.

Officials said that snapdeal, which has raised 40 million (Rs 190 crore) last year is searching a mid-to-small sized partner to expand its business beyond the group buying space. However, they refused to provide more details. Moreover, the co-founder and CEO of Jasper Innovative Marketing Solutions, Snapdeal's parent firm, did not reply to an email seeking comments.

Snapdeal last acquired a company in June 2010, when it bought Bangalorebased group buying site Grabbon.com for an undisclosed amount. The company is eyeing the expected boom in the e-commerce market, which expected to grow to $25 billion by 2015 from $10 billion now.

India condemns explosion in Israeli embassy car

New Delhi, Feb 13 (ANI): Strongly condemning the explosion that took place in a car belonging to the Israeli embassy, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna on Monday said the law of the land will take its own course and the culprits will be brought to justice at the earliest.

Krishna said that he spoke to his Israeli counterpart following the unfortunate incident and assured him that he would keep him posted on the progress in the probe.

"India very strongly condemns such incidents and it is going to be fully investigated and the culprits will be brought to justice at the earliest. I have just spoken to the Israeli Foreign Minister and I have re-assured the Israeli Foreign Minister that the law of the land will take its course and the investigation has already started and we will continue with it and then keep him posted as and when we get progress report of the investigation," he told the media here.

Krishna further said one of the staff members of the Israeli establishment in Delhi, who has been injured in the incident, is being treated at a city hospital.

"We have just received information about an unfortunate incident that took place a little while earlier in which incident a staff member's family of the Israeli establishment in Delhi has been injured. She has been rushed into the hospital and we are awaiting further information about the well being of the victim," he said.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police Commissioner BK Gupta said that four people have been injured in the blast.

"The damage is on the rear. Bike borne attacker are behind it. Three person have superficial injury. But the lady is seriously injured. They were going to pick up their children when the blast occurred. The statement of the lady victim could not be taken."

Gupta said that the Special Cell of the Delhi police will conduct the investigation.It may have been some kind of magnetic device which was used to trigger the blast. here was a mild explosion and car got fire," he said.

Delhi Police immediately stepped up security around the city following the incident. (ANI)
